About Neatness

Neatness is an independent library of home organization checklists. Every checklist takes one room, one drawer, or one recurring chore and breaks it into a short sequence of concrete steps you can finish in a single sitting, usually in under an hour. Nothing here is a magazine spread: there are no borrowed houses and no staged pantries, only the order of operations that turns a space you avoid into a space you use.

Our editorial approach is deliberately narrow. Each checklist starts from hands-on practice rather than from rewriting what other sites already say: we empty the space, notice what actually slows the work down, and keep only the steps that changed the outcome. Steps are ordered the way the job really happens, time estimates are honest upper bounds instead of best-case numbers, and the "what you need" list is limited to tools most households already own. Where a step carries a genuine risk, such as lifting, ladders, solvents, or anything electrical, the checklist says so in plain language rather than burying it. We do not accept payment for placement, and no brand or retailer can buy a spot in a checklist.

Neatness is written for renters and homeowners who want a home that is easier to keep, not a home that photographs well. Checklists are reviewed as our own methods improve, and we publish in English and Chinese with the same content in both languages. If a checklist does not match how your space works, that is useful information to us: tell us what was missing, wrong, or unclear, and we will revise it.
